- Night It Up 2009

- Night It Up 2009

Night It Up

Night It up 2009

Night It up 2009

Errr….
Night It Up 2009

Night It Up 2009

Night It Up 2009

Night It Up 2009

  3. One of the many beauties of multiculturalism – culinary smorgasboard! Lunch time over here. Tummy growling extra loud now. The pics’ fault! :)

    • Hahaa…..hope you had a great lunch yesterday! So, what did u eat? ;)

      • Thanks. Lunch was ok, as usual but downed with more gusto on this occasion :) . Been having only the one same dish the past 5 years, whenever I visit this cafe (发纪) in Box Hill. Somehow, find myself addicted to this dish. It is called 时菜牛肉反. You should give it a try when you are back in town. :)

        • Wow ! One same dish for the past 5 years !! Amazing ! I can’t even eat the same dish for more than 3 days ! ;)

Oh? I know Box Hill quite well, but have not noticed 发纪. Speaking about Box Hill, if u like I can recommend you some restaurants !! Haha ! You probably know most of them, yet I will still list them here. When u r tired of your 时菜牛肉反, you can try something different :)

The following are a few of my favourite restaurants : –
          1. Dumpling King – best dumpling in town ! A little more expensive but worth it. More like a sitting down place, rather than lunch quick eat. Noodles dishes are pretty good too. However, I find the quality of dinner dishes varies.

          2. Dumpling Tempura – it is a small shop inside the Box Hill shopping center, close to the market place. They handmade their noodles ! I love their noodles ! The dumplings are pretty good though but quality is not as good as Dumpling King. But cheaper and good place for quick eat.

          3. I don’t know what the shop name is, it is also inside the shopping center. You might know it. It is a store that sells 釀豆腐. You can order a few different kinds of 釀豆腐 and eat with a bowl of noodles. Good choice for lunch too. I like to buy them cool, and bring home to eat whenever I like. Their 萝卜糕is very good too ! Yummy !

          Enjoy ! :)

(Ps; haha ! Maybe I should just write a post for this ! )

          • I was born in the year of the Ox maa, so must support the beef industry! Hahaha! Guess you misunderstood me! :P . I think I’d better clear the confusion before I drift off into slumberland. Emm, I actually meant I will always have 时菜牛肉反 if/when I visit 发纪.(maybe once a week). I have tried most of the other restaurants/eateries (including the ones you mentioned. I think it would be a good idea to write a post on them!). Strangely, 时菜牛肉反remains the dish that I like the best in Box Hill over the years :) . There are also quite a few Korean & Sichuan hotpot restaurants that have opened in Box Hill over the past couple of years. You might want to check them out when you return. Hope I didn’t shocked you just now. Hahaha! Goodnight fr Melb. :)

            • I see I see…I understand now :) Really? You like 时菜牛肉饭that much? I don’t think I have a particular dish that I like that much, I like variety and like to keep changing. Probably that’s why I will get bored with a place easily and want to move to somewhere else to live. ;)

Haha ! So, u know most of the restaurants I mentioned !! Great great ! Wow ! Korean & Sichuan hotpot, I remember them !! I have only tried one of the Korean restaurants in Box Hill, but never tried the Sichuan hotpot. Are they good ? When I was in Melbourne, there were no people there every time I walked past . And I remember there was a Sichuan (?!) hotpot in CBD got shut down because of mice in the kitchen or something !!!??? I was scared, so never tried :P

              • “You like 时菜牛肉饭that much?” Emm, yes, i do. If so much time has already passed, and i still do; that means it is no mere ‘infatuation’ with it. Tried to give up but no antidote to this addiction is available leh :(

Box Hill has become a little Korea as well. Many Korean hair salons (7), grocery shops (3), restaurants (4). Not to mention the many more HK/Taiwan/Mainland Chinese ones. As for the Sichuan hotpots, they are mostly fabulous. All you can eat at $18-$20 per pax. Must try! :)

                • Hahaha !! You even know the exact counts of how many hair salons, grocery shops & restaurants !! That’s cool ! :)

I know one of Korean hair salons! I had been there once, and some of my girl friends love to go there. Heehee….
And I know one of the Korean grocery shops too. A not-very-close-friend of mine owns one ! heehee….
Yet, I could not recall there are so many of them when I was last in Melbourne. So, it gonna be interesting when I go back.
                  Ahhhh…….I miss Melbourne !!

Posted by 雪芬 shirls | July 13, 2009, 9:23 am
