Ah Ben

Last night, I had a dinner with two of my really ‘old’ friends, Ah Ben and Wai Sum. They both are my friends for over 15 years. I have known Ah Ben since primary school and known Wai Sum since high school. They are now husband and wife for many years and already have three sons.

We have lost contact for a long time and only recently we met each other again in Facebook. It feels bizarre that we have been living in different countries, living different lives for the past 10 years, yet we have so much to share. I guess true friendships will not be affected by times and spaces.

It helps more that I recently found Wai Sum’s blog and have been going there to ‘see’ her frequently. It is interesting to find out that they have been falling in love with marathon. So, we talked about their marathons, my backpacking experiences, our own and our friends’ gossips, and of course, about their sons.

Apart from Ah Ben and Wai Sum, I have met up with many long lost friends in two weddings during the past two weeks in Malaysia. It felt so warm and pleasant to see them again, especially last night.

The three little boys are truly active and adorable. While the adults were catching up, they won’t disturb us but went around the restaurant ‘chatting’ with other customers !

We were so engrossed in our chats and keeping an eye for the kids, we forgot to take a photo. It is a pity I can’t show you how adorable they are 🙂

Hearing the happy laughs and the animated chats from the three little ones, suddenly, I realised we are real grown-up now. In addition to our responsibility for our own happiness, some of us already have to strive for a better future for our next generation…..
