I just found out that Weather Office of Environment Canada issued a weather warning for the coming Saturday night and Sunday. It is predicting that a major snowfall, accompanied with strong wind and freezing rain will affect Southern Ontario. Toronto may have snowfall accumulations of 15 to 25 cm, and some regions may have more than 40 cm. This sort of weather is very dangerous for any kind of traveling. Weather Office advised travelers to be prepared to change plans accordingly, and be extra cautious on the road.

I was planning to go to a Buddhist gathering this Sunday evening. Responding to the weather condition quickly, I already received emails notifying that all gatherings are canceled. A few hours ago, Ed and I have not checked the weather forecast. At that time, we were planning a ‘dim sum’ Sunday lunch with some friends. Well, after knowing the weather warning, we may have to postpone our plan to other days. I guess, we better just stay home to cook and read our books. This is the life in Canada. We have to check weather forecast regularly, we live and plan/cancel our activities according to the weather.

This year, the snow came much earlier. Not only that, it comes with full force and high frequency. No wonder there is a prediction that this year winter may be the coldest in 15 years. This is my second winter in Toronto, I am slowly adapting to this below freezing point weather. I guess, in a way, I don’t mind the snow too. Last year, the first snow was after Christmas (Dec 28th) and I was disappointed that I did not have a white Christmas then. I think my dream should come true this year. The city is now in its snow white dress, decorated by many colourful Christmas lighting, I am already in my white Christmas mood.

Thankfully, two days after Christmas, I will be in enjoying the sunshine in Malaysia instead of the freezing cool in Toronto. Nonetheless, I do worry about how my body can cope with such sudden change of weather (from minus 10 degrees in Toronto to 30 degree in KL). I hope I will not catch a cold or some sort. I think I better start cooking some Chinese herbal soups to boost my immunity, just in case.
